EXTENDED SPRING HOURS FOR DESCANSO’S BODDY HOUSE
The historic Boddy House will be opened more days this spring for guests to enjoy the architecture, views and beauty of this 1939 Regency-styled home. Spring hours for the Boddy House will be 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Wednesdays through Sundays. Free docent tours take place only on Saturday and Sunday at noon.
Extended hours will run until Mother’s Day, May 9. Entrance to the Boddy House is free with Descanso Gardens’ general admission: $8 adults, $6 students/ seniors and $3 children 5-12.

HOSPITAL HOSTING BLOOD DRIVE
Verdugo Hills Hospital (VHH) will hold a Blood Drive on Thursday, April 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the hospital’s Council Room, located on the fourth floor. Before donating, blood donors must be in good health; be at least 17 years of age; bring photo I.D.; weigh at least 110 pounds; drink plenty of water; eat a nutritious meal; and have not received tattoos within the last 12 months. All blood donations will benefit patients at VHH.

HIGH SCHOOL REUNIONS
The Crescenta Valley High School class of 1990 is holding its 20-year reunion on Saturday, May 29 at the Glendale Hilton. The event begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $99 per person and are available through www.GreatReunions.com.

The Crescenta Valley High School class of 2000 is having its 10-year reunion on July 17. From 6:30 to 10 p.m. there will be a hosted bar, reception buffet and awesome door prizes. The event is being held at the ESPN Zone at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles. The cost is $85 before April 30; $95 before June 30.

SCO CELEBRATES MEXICO’S BICENTENNIAL
Santa Cecilia Orchestra celebrates the 200th anniversary of Mexico’s independence and the 100th anniversary of its revolution with works from Mexican composers Carlos Chávez and Blas Galindo Dimas. The celebration takes place on Sunday, April 25 at 4:00 p.m. at Occidental College Thorne Hall, 1600 Campus Road in Eagle Rock. Ticket prices are $26 and $20, $7 for youth (17 and under). ANNUAL PLANT SALES THIS WEEKEND
The Little Landers Historical Society is holding its annual one day plant sale on Saturday, April 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Over one thousand plants of all sizes and shapes will be available with prices starting at 25¢. Trees, shrubs, ground covers, succulents, flowers, bulbs, California natives and much more will be for sale.

Descanso Gardens Spring Plant Sale is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 23 and April 24. There will be a variety of items for sale including rooted cuttings from Descanso’s rose garden, warm weather lilacs developed at Descanso, native and rare plants of all kinds. WOMEN’S CONTRIBUTIONS SUBJECT OF MEETING
On Saturday, May 8 at 1:00 p.m. the Little Landers Historical Society will present “Women’s Contributions during World War I and World War II.” Guest speaker is Deborah McIntosh, owner and founder of History Through the Eyes of Women, an organization providing informative presentations.
The program is part of the Forest Lawn Memorial Parks lecture series and is only one of the many presentations available through History Through the Eyes of Women. This is a free program. Everyone is welcome.
