Is it just me, or does it seem like May should be far away? In fact it’s only a week and a half away, so hard to believe. April showers do bring May flowers and in the case of the Montrose Shopping Park a whole lot more. On Sunday May 1, the Shopping Park will be a beehive of family fun. We have five different events that will be going on from 9 a.m. to 2p.m.
Kids ‘n Kritters was created by the Montrose Merchants and is dedicated to activities of interest to children and families in the neighborhood. Come and enjoy our “Heavenly Hand –led Pony Rides” and “Critters –to-Go Petting Zoo”. This is where gentle ponies take your kids on a walking tour and they enjoy our petting zoo too. In addition we will host the “Wild Wonders Exotic Petting Zoo”. At 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and noon drop by for a hands on visit with Crocodiles, Porcupines, Tarantulas, and Pythons. At 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. you can see “The Wizard Bruce- The Eighth Wonder of the World” and his Magic Show.
While all that fun is going on, the Glendale Humane Society will be conducting their “Wags & Whiskers” event. Participants in this event will be bringing their well behaved dogs to the Shopping Park for contests and to parade them for your enjoyment. If you are interested in parading your dog, registration for the event takes place at 9 am at the Andersen’s Pets parking lot. You can check out the GHS website for more details.
All of this will be set against the backdrop of our weekly Montrose Harvest Market, featuring California certified and organic produce, baked goods, and flowers, and our Thieves Market featuring antiques, collectibles, and memorabilia.
The fifth event is “Taste of Montrose”. For $20 you can visit several local restaurants and get a small taste from each one. This event allows you some culinary exploration and benefits “Prom Plus” which offers safe alternatives to after prom parties. Gourmet food, pets, critters, veggies, and FUN are all here to be had so do mark your calendars. It’s just around the corner. On behalf of The Montrose Shopping Park I wish all of you a blessed Easter and Passover season. Thank you for supporting the small one of a kind businesses of Montrose.
