Road Diet Community Outreach Meeting Tonight
Tonight is the final community outreach meeting for the City Council approved test-case conversion of Honolulu Avenue from four travel lanes to three travel lanes (“road diet”) between Orangedale Avenue and approximately Whiting Woods Road. If you have questions or concerns, this is your opportunity to bring them up and let your voice be heard! City officials are encouraging cyclists, residents, property owners and anyone else who has questions to attend.
The public meeting is to make sure the community knows about the planned road diet in Montrose and what to expect. This meeting is your chance to talk about any concerns you might have regarding the impact this plan will have on traffic, parking, pedestrian safety and the quality of life in this area. Don’t miss this opportunity. The community outreach meeting is at 7 p.m. at the Sparr Heights Community Center, 1613 Glencoe Way.
Here is a reminder of what the road diet means: This test-case conversion will include the installation of a designated bicycle lane in each direction. The road diet is to test the viability of dedicated bike lanes on Honolulu Avenue. The Glendale City Council ordered the test case in an effort to provide a baseline for how road diets work. Glendale’s Draft Bicycle Transportation Plan includes a more bike-friendly approach and this test will determine if others can be installed in more areas of the city. The lane reconfigurations are planned to last nine to 12 months.
Anyone who would like more detailed information about the road diet can log onto www.honoluluroaddiet.com, contact the Chamber office at mvcc@montrosechamber.org or call us at (818) 249-7171.
