Taste, Dance and Just Say ‘Thank you!’

Can you feel it?  Are you getting excited? We’re getting close now! Just 10 days more and on Sunday, May 7 the Montrose Shopping Park Association will be throwing one of its most popular parties of the year! The name is rather long, but that’s because there is so much going on: Wags ‘N’ Whiskers, Kids ‘N’ Kritters, Taste of Montrose…whew! That’s a mouthful.

So get your taste buds ready for Taste of Montrose, hosted by the Prom Plus organization to raise money for a safe and sane venue on prom night 2017.  Their motto is “Help Us Keep Your Kids Safe – Saving Lives One Prom at a Time.” Your part: buy a $20 ticket for your personal Taste of Montrose and sample the culinary delights offered by an array of participating Montrose restaurants.  All proceeds go directly to benefit Prom Plus. Pictured here we find a local foodie being served a delicious “taste” from the folks at Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant. Other locals serving up their specialties include Zeke’s Smokehouse, Gelsinger’s Amber Road, Rest Farmhouse Inspired and Casa Córdoba. Olé!  

And get ready to dance – or at least to watch! This year we have added a special dance performance featuring the kids from our own Revolution Dance Center. With two locations in the 2200 block of Honolulu Avenue, they also have a motto: “Dance to Live – Live to Dance.” One of the largest dance studios anywhere around, the kids dance troupe will be center stage at Honolulu Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard for one performance only at 1:15 p.m. Don’t miss it!

And get ready to say, ‘thank you’ to our many first responders who will be on-site that day representing Glendale police and fire, Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station, Montrose Search and Rescue and the California Highway Patrol. With vehicles on display, they will be there to greet and show you what they do every day to keep us safe. What a marvelous day that will be!

This week our Sunday Market features a new musical group . . . The Dukes of Doo-Wop. Ladies, wear your poodle skirts, guys wear your black and pink, and enjoy the music we loved in the ’50s. And for those shoppers coming for fresh farm crops we have mulberries, sugar cane and “first crop” cherries. It’s the Montrose Sunday Market and the Montrose Shopping Park “where everyone knows your name.”
