Striving to make our world better

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”         Anne Frank

Congratulations to the Desi Geestman Foundation on its new office location at 2620 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta and a huge thank you to the foundation for all the good it does to improve the quality of life for children suffering from cancer and their families. The foundation provides environments of support that alleviate emotional and economic trauma when families are going through this impossible situation.
DGF is named in honor of Desi Geestman, a brave 12-year-old girl who fought a courageous battle with neuroblastoma at the City of Hope. Desi expressed her wish to help other cancer patients and their families, which is how DGF came to life.
DGF has grown from a wish by its namesake to an organization providing vital assistance to hundreds of children since 1999. Cancer does not discriminate; it attacks all ages. Small children with this disease need even more help dealing with such a deadly travesty. Your gifts and donations truly make a difference. Please help to improve the world of ill children by contacting the DGF to make your tax deductible donation or join them as a golfer, sponsor or in-kind donor for the Desi Geestman Golf Tournament on Monday, July 12. The Desi Geestman Foundation is improving the world one child at a time and you can too by visiting the DGF at its new location or at www.4desi.org or attending its upcoming golf tournament.
Congratulations also to our chamber president Jean Maluccio for receiving the City of Glendale’s “Home Town Hero” award last weekend in front of a group of approximately 400 volunteers for “The Great American Clean Up.”  Jean’s list of organizations and groups that she has given her time and financial support to is very impressive. It is hard to believe that any one person can accomplish so much and still be a wonderful mom, grandma and friend to many. Jean has gone above and beyond in giving her help in improving the world.
You also do not need to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.  Come visit the chamber to get involved in your community; the place where you live, work and send your children to school. There will be a great mixer at Caspian Services on July 9t in which you may join us to meet many of the people  who constantly do their part in improving our world and especially the Crescenta Valley.
Important Chamber dates: June 9: – Business mixer at Caspian Services.      Please call our office for more details on any event. How to reach us: (818) 248-4957 / crescentachamber@aol.com / www.LaCrescenta.org / 3131 Foothill Blvd. Ste D.
