Summer Is Almost Here
Get ready for summer! There are all kinds of fun to be had here in the Crescenta Valley.
The Summer Beach Bus will be back in operation beginning June 12 and continuing through Sept. 3. Thanks to LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, the low-priced bus ($3/$1.50) carries children, adults, persons with disabilities and senior citizens from three La Crescenta locations to Santa Monica beach every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday until Labor Day for a day of fun and sun on the Westside. For more information, visit www.LAGoBus.com.
Fireworks! Who doesn’t love ’em? As usual, the CV Fireworks Association is putting on its annual Star Spangled 4th of July Fireworks Celebration. The display is on Wednesday, July 4th at Crescenta Valley High School. Gates open at 4 p.m. and fireworks begin when darkness falls.
Fireworks aren’t cheap; it takes a lot of money to put on this event. You can show your support by playing bingo on Saturday, June 9 at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital. Admission is just $20 and every bingo game will pay $100 or more! You can sponsor a game for $100, $150, $200 or $300 and, for your convenience, sponsorships can be made through the CV Chamber of Commerce. This entire fireworks event is coordinated by volunteers and all proceeds from bingo benefit the fireworks display. Please show your support so they can provide a safe fireworks show for the community. For more information, you can email CVFireworks@aol.com or call (818) 248-2271.
Dust off your golf clubs and sign up to play in the Crescenta Valley Chamber Scholarship Golf Tournament on Friday, June 22 held at Scholl Canyon. Everyone has a great time at this annual event that benefits local students and The Desi Geestman Foundation, which helps children with cancer.
You don’t have to be a golf pro. You don’t even need to have a foursome of players. We’ll be happy to put you on a team. The cost is only $125, or $440 per foursome, but you must register by June 15. Admission also includes an amazing steak and salmon lunch. Call the office for more info at (818) 248-4957.
Have a fun-filled, safe summer! Call the Chamber with all your Crescenta Valley-related questions.
