»Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce “Our Business is Your Business”

This month, our mixer will be on the third, not the second, Wednesday in June.  Come join us at Crescenta-Cañada Pet Hospital, 3502 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta, on Wednesday, June 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be food, drink, networking, prizes and more all for a mere $7 ($9 for non-members). If you’re a Chamber business member in good standing, your company name is in a big fishbowl that we bring to each mixer. Every month, we pick a name out of that fishbowl for a chance to win a growing pot of cash. This month the pot is up to a whopping $525!  Members have to be present to win, so if you’re feeling lucky (or if you’re just hungry), be sure to come to C-C Pet Hospital on Wednesday.

Also on the Chamber agenda is our annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on June 24. Having a great day of golfing is also a fun way to help your local chamber help your community.

Rules of Golf:

1)  If you lose your ball, you may not substitute it with another player’s ball that happens to be closer to the pin.

2) If you’re on a par five and get a score of four, do not yell “fore.” Besides there is no par five at Scholl Canyon.

3) If you find a ball in a hazard zone, leave it. It’s not a way to meet new people.

4) A sand trap is an area filled with sand and should be avoided.

While all of this is in fun, as is the event, there’s some serious stuff too. The tournament is a fundraiser for the Crescenta Valley and Clark Magnet high school student scholarship funds. Our 2016 recipients will be joining us at the tournament.  They are outstanding graduating seniors and the Chamber’s scholarship committee did an excellent job selecting this year’s recipients, as many were deserving. We hope you will join us as we award checks to Elin Aboolian, Rebecca Freeman, Rachel Harvey, Benjamin Mitchell and Makayla Rabago.

This year we’re not only raising money for the students but also for The Desi Geestman Foundation, a local philanthropy dedicated to “Touching the Lives of Children with Cancer.” Help us help them continue their good work.
