It’s Prime Peach Time at Sunday’s Harvest Market
I just got the latest fruit and veggie scoop from expert Montrose Harvest Market manager Mark Sheridan. Did you know it’s prime peach time and our farmers have close to 20 varieties of peaches to bring to market? Look for white, yellow, donut, Fairchild and more. The crop should be good through August so be sure to stock up and freeze some for later … Last call for the exceptionally large, sweet Medjool dates that are fabulous in shakes … Carrot season is also peaking. I just learned that our cold nights produce sugar sweet carrots so don’t miss out. Who knew…? It’s major berry time! Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and olallieberries are here! Olallieberries, a cross between a blackberry and red raspberry, are tart, sweet, juicy and delicious and very hard to find…. We also have a new vendor for you. Vision Sprouts specializes in healthy sprouts and micro greens. So good for you!
Giuseppe’s is the Place for Pasta!
This picture is perfection on a plate. Giuseppe’s Linguini Fini alla Vienna is light and refreshing with just the right amount of tomatoes, olive oil and fresh basil. Pair it with their house cabernet and that’s Italian! If you really want to get decadent, order a side of their famous garlic balls. Homemade dough is fried and coated with lots of garlic and served on crisp black & white checkered paper in a special basket with a side of marinara for dipping. Please save room for dessert. The spumoni ice cream cake is as beautiful to look at as it’s fun to eat. Light and refreshing colorful layers of Italian ice cream with a crumb crust are finished with whip cream and a cherry.
So remember peaches & pasta this week in Montrose while you’re checking out a new store or two. Thanks for reading! See you here next week.
