Everything You Wanted to Know About the CV Chamber Golf Tournament
… But Were Afraid to Ask

Maybe you’ve been considering signing up for the CV Chamber golf tournament but had a few questions first. Here are answers to some of the more commonly asked questions:

Can I play if I’m on my own? Sure, we’ll put you with another player or three. Twosomes are welcome as well.

What if I’m not very good at golf? No worries! This tournament is more about having fun than winning. Besides, you can purchase a coupon for a free Mulligan!

I’ve never played Scholl Canyon. Is it nice? Located atop the rugged Verdugo Mountain Range in Glendale, the Scholl Canyon Golf Club features a William P. Bell-designed golf course that is consistently rated among the top mid-range courses in the country. With panoramic views that stretch to the Pacific Ocean and overlook the Los Angeles basin and the San Fernando Valley, Scholl Canyon is a wonderfully situated sports complex in Southern California.

$125 is kind of expensive for a round of golf. What do I get? You get a lot more than just golf!  You get a cart for two people, a bucket of range balls, two drink tickets, continental breakfast and lunch of grilled steak and salmon. You also get a goodie bag with surprises inside. Plus you get a good feeling inside knowing you’re supporting our scholarship fund. You’ll even get to meet this year’s winners during lunch.

Can I just come for lunch? Yes, it’s only $35.

What are these crazy contests and what can I win? Besides playing 18 holes of golf, players have the option to participate in various contests and raffles for a small donation.  The hole-in-one contest is just that: get a hole-in-one on 3-par hole numbers 5, 8 or 16, have it verified by volunteers standing by, and win a brand new Toyota, $10,000 or a four-day Baja Cruise! If you win the closest-to-the-pin contest on hole 11 or the putting contest, you might score green fees for four. Raffle prizes currently include a 3-night stay in Palm Springs with golf for four, a one-hour swing evaluation, gift cards to Roger Dunn Golf Shop & Big Five, a basket from Sport Clips in La Cañada, a one-hour facial at Massage Envy, even a U.S. flag that’s been flown over the capitol building! There are so many opportunities to win, including Fantasy golf scratchers.  But you can’t win if you don’t play!

What happens after the game is over? The smell of freshly grilled steak and salmon will lure you back to the clubhouse. Once there, you’ll find a masseuse on hand giving free mini-massages to muscle-weary players. We’ll also have sports memorabilia to peruse and possibly take home with you. A really funny comedian will entertain while you eat. After lunch we’ll present checks to eager scholarship honorees and call out the raffle winners. All this and you can still be back at work for the afternoon shift (if you want to).

How can you bring us all this for only $125? Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors!  Major sponsors like Bob Smith Toyota, Montrose Travel, Chris Aristo State Farm, Foothills Partners of John Aaroe Group, and Mike Napolitano Dilbeck Realty, as well as our tee sponsors JBoy Media, Sport Clips, Caspian Services, JR Hardware, CV Water District, CV Weekly, Valley Automotive Group, Harmony Health MD, Crescenta-Cañada Pet Hospital, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, Taix Workout Studio and Bonner’s Rentals.
