Fun Times Found at CV Chamber

The Crescenta Valley Chamber would like to thank Montrose Travel, our June after-hours business mixer host.

Montrose Travel, which started as a small storefront travel agency in 1956, was purchased by Leora and Joe McClure Sr. in 1972. In 1990, their children, Andi, Joe and Joe’s wife Julie, purchased the agency from their parents. Together they grew this small town agency into a $200 million company.

The Hawaiian themed mixer evening brought with it a pleasant island trade wind and Julie, who graduated from high school in Maui, prepared the kabobs for the luau feast.

The special monthly CV Chamber business drawing, which was worth $150, was won by Kim Beattie of the YMCA of the Foothills. It pays to attend these mixers.     The next mixer on July 9 will be hosted by Chris Aristo of State Farm Insurance, and the drawing will be worth $100; remember, though, that you need to be present to win.

Business mixers, which are also open to the community, are the perfect way to establish contacts and share ideas with other members of the community. Another advantage of belonging to the chamber is the annual Foothills Business Expo. This will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital.

We hope you will join us for our annual scholarship golf tournament on Friday, June 27. It will be held at Scholl Canyon Golf Course and, with its unique golf course and great views, is considered one of the top mid-length golf courses in the country. After a continental breakfast, while awaiting your trophies we will be serving steak and salmon lunch.

Don’t forget that with a little luck and how well you communicate with that ball, you have a chance to win several prizes that include a shiny new Toyota from Bob Smith Toyota or a three-day Baja cruise from Montrose Travel. We have invited our scholarship winners to join us so those who support the tournament will have a chance to congratulate them while meeting our future leaders.
