News from the CV Chamber of Commerce

Get Ready for BINGO!

Whew! June was quite the month for our Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce. Earlier we announced the names of 11 outstanding and deserving student scholars and presented each of them with a Certificate and Scholarship during a June ceremony in a beautiful setting at the Chevy Chase Country Club.

And right on the heels of our student scholar recognition was our first ever Vendor Silent Auction. The professionally run format of online bidding for valuable items turned out to be highly successful and loads of excitement and fun. We wish to thank all our participants and especially our vendors who contributed the valuable products up for auction. They included Merle Norman of Montrose (Kim & Kris), Once Upon a Time Bookstore (Maureen & Jessica), YMCA of the Foothills (Vince Iuculano), CV Historical Society (Rev. Beverly Craig, Mike Lawler and Stuart Byles), Friends of Rockhaven (Joanna Linkchorst), Genesis Stoneworks (Georgina Mueller), Ethos Realty Group (Jeero Habeshian), J’s Maids (Chris Waldheim), Mike Baldwin, Crescenta Cañada Pet Hospital (Dr. J.D. Speas), Lisa and Jacques Dupuy, CV Weekly Newspaper (Robin Goldsworthy), RestoKleen Restoration Services (Sera), Cynthia Livingston, LA Acting Studio, Pure Interval Training Fitness (Tawna Hutchinson), Mary Pinola Education Foundation, Clear Minded Marketing (Leslie Lesh), Chevy Chase Country Club, Tony DiGiovanni Keyboard Entertainer, Camille Levee and Julia Rabago and Robb Barstow (staging of gifts).

We concluded our June activities with a grand opening/ribbon cutting ceremony for our newest Chamber member, Pure Interval Training Fitness, located at 3115 Foothill Blvd (just east of Pennsylvania Avenue). Owner Tawna Hutchinson has created a state-of-the-art facility offering 24/7 fitness training sessions for all levels and ages. Check them out at www.PIT-FIT.com.

Coming up next is an evening of bingo, which returns to the Crescenta Valley on Saturday, July 10 at the La Crescenta VFW/American Legion Hall, 4011 La Crescenta Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the first game of bingo starts at 6 p.m. Always fun and exciting with $$$ to win! Tickets are $20, which includes 10 games plus a dauber. Tickets may be purchased on July 10 at the door of the Memorial Hall – but why wait when you can get your bingo tickets now at the Chamber office [(818) 248-4957], or by contacting either Steve Pierce at (818) 259-5195 or Mike Baldwin at mhbaldwin1960@sbcglobal.net. Save the Dates:

First, a Chamber mixer has been arranged for Thursday, Aug. 5 from 6-8 p.m. at Alissa’s Ocean View Bar & Grill, 3826 Ocean View Blvd. (at the corner of Florencita Avenue) in Montrose. This promises to be a gala event since it will be our first mixer since the March 2020 Bob Smith Toyota mixer just prior to the pandemic restrictions.

Next, our Chamber’s annual scholarship golf tournament will be held on Friday, Aug. 13 at Scholl Canyon Golf Course. It doesn’t matter if you are a low handicap golfer or a “duffer;” this golf event is all about having fun!

Our year’s biggest event, the Hometown Country Fair, complete with vendors, live music, food, games, activities for the kids, and a classic car show, returns on Saturday, Sept. 18. We are back with more excitement and fun for the entire family.

And there’s more! On Saturday, Oct. 30 is our Chamber’s 5K Pumpkin Fun Run with a chance to compete for year-long community bragging rights in all age categories.

July 4th Fireworks Reminder: The CV Fireworks Association is putting on a spectacular 4th of July Fireworks Show for our community to watch starting approximately at 9 p.m. Due to the restrictions in place at the time county permits were required, there will be no access to the CV High School field for the public to watch the fireworks; however, all the fireworks will be high in the sky, allowing views of this incredible display to be seen over a wide area of the Crescenta Valley. Please remember the use of private fireworks is illegal and dangerous.

CV Chamber Membership Opportunities: If you are a Chamber member we are available to help your business plan a ribbon cutting, a grand re-opening of your business, or even help you organize promotional opportunities. For those of you who are not business or residential members there are numerous advantages of a CV Chamber of Commerce membership. For details simply call the CV Chamber office at (818) 248-4957 or email us at info@crescentavalleychamber.org. You may also access our Chamber website at www.crescentavalleychamber.org.
