Best Student Film Festival Ever!
The Best Student Film Festival Ever is coming July 12 to the Sparr Heights Community Center. This festival is organized entirely by students and will showcase over 15 short films made by students from Crescenta Valley High School, Clark Magnet High School, La Cañada High School, Rosemont Middle School and others. The organizers are Chris Vinan and Ebner De Torres and both are recent CVHS graduates.
“This event promises to be truly special. We will show films created and produced by students from our local schools,” said Vinan. But not only will there be films to see, they are planning on weaving short comedy skits, musical performances and raffle prizes between the films to keep the event lively and engaging. You will hear music written by a recent CVHS graduate Eddie Taylor who attends Berkley College of Music in Boston. On hand will also be recent CVHS graduate Mac Wright who was a student conductor while he was in high school.
“We are having a tribute to the roaring ’20s and the Great Gatsby. You might have recently seen the film that came out. This was an excellent film that shows us filmmaking at its finest,” said Vinan. “We will also have modern music as well.”
Don’t worry about eating before you come! 7 Stop Pizza, Starbucks Coffee and Fosters Family Donuts are providing the food. Of course, there will be sodas to drink and popcorn … just like at the movies.
Raffle prizes include gift certificates from many of the businesses in Montrose like Pepe’s, El Charro, and the Montrose Candy Company to name a few. They will also be raffling off a Kindle Fire.
There will be a $2 entrance fee. The entrance fee and raffle funds raised at this event will be going to Center Middle School in Azusa.
“We wanted to give back to a school that doesn’t have any of the resources we have at our schools. They need cameras, tripods and funds for programs,” said Vinan. Thank you so much to these local businesses for sponsoring this event for our students: Montrose Pet Hospital, Mayhall, New Moon, State Farm Insurance, Gio’s Baguettes and More, Once Upon a Time Bookstore, Montrose Bowl, Cheb Productions, City Hall Coffee Shop, Needle in a Haystack, Images Day Spa and many more!
Please support our local students and come to the Sparr Heights Community Center, 1613 Glencoe Way, Glendale, 91208 on July 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Where else can you see a movie for $2?! You need to bring the whole family.
