Come Help with the Clean Up!

On Saturday, July 12 the Crescenta Valley Chamber and Town Council invite you to join them for the monthly La Crescenta Avenue off-ramp clean up from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Wear sturdy shoes and bring gloves; we supply the rest. You must be 18 years of age.

On Tuesday, Aug. 5, it’s the annual National Night Out. Join the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station and several other community organizations in the parking lot of Ralph’s Market, 2675 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’s free, informative and fun.

The idea of NNO is to strengthen neighborhoods through law enforcement partnerships by emphasizing crime and drug prevention awareness, and sending a message to criminals that our communities are organized and fighting back. Residents can also show support against crime by leaving their porch lights on.

You can expect fun and a chance to win several great prizes at the 3rd Annual American Legion Post 288 and VFW Post 1614 Community Bingo night, held at Healy Hall, 2361 Del Mar Road, Montrose on Friday, Aug. 8. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the first game starting at 7 p.m. Admission is only $10, which includes two bingo cards, and each game paying $100 to the winners. Additional cards can be purchased. Prizes include gift cards, movie tickets, passes to Pacific Park, Star War Origami, Magicopolis and much more.

Year round, worn flags from the community are collected by American Legion Post 288. Due to the number of flags worn out by the end of the summer holidays, Post 288 will now deliver most of these flags to Crippen Mortuary. Crippen, at its own expense, will turn these over to VFW Post 7264 in Joshua Tree where an annual flag retirement is held. A special plot and headstone is provided by Joshua Tree Memorial Park for these retired flags. If you have some of these worn flags, they can be brought to the chamber office.
