Hometown Country Fair Review and Looking Forward

There’s no denying it – the day was hot on June 22 when the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce held its annual Hometown Country Fair at CV Park. Regardless of the high temperatures we saw a lot of local folks come out for a day that offered lots of fun.

A petting zoo? Yup, we had one. First responders including representatives from California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept., Montrose Search & Rescue and Glendale Police Dept. and even Smokey Bear from the U.S. Forest Dept.? Yes, they were there. A pie-eating contest and water balloon toss? Yes indeed – plus students from the Crescenta Valley High School robotics team and members of the dynamic Charismatics, who opened the festivities. And let’s not forget that Supervisor Kathryn Barger stopped by and presented a certificate to the chamber. Representative Judy Chu was also on hand to say hello to many of her constituents plus present a certificate to the chamber as did Declan Floyd from the office of State Senator Anthony Portantino. Guests also enjoyed the inflatables and food trucks. Classic Mustangs were also on display. It was a banner day.

I have to give a shout-out to the many volunteers who pulled together this mammoth event. From directing traffic to making arrangements for placement of the numerous vendors, the Hometown Country Fair volunteers went above and beyond to make sure this year’s event was one of the best. Thank you!
