An Offer You Can’t Refuse from Ocean View Books
I had a new experience the other day. Believe it or not, it was my first time in a used bookstore. I had heard about Ocean View Books and decided to pop in. What a nice surprise! The store has high ceilings with a loft and is filled top to bottom with all kinds of used books. If you are a book lover, you are going to just love this place! The day I was there we were talking about my recent article “A Touch of Paris in Montrose” as several customers were milling about. One of them happened to be a woman who was visiting from France. She loves Montrose and couldn’t wait to get a copy of the paper. As a matter of fact, she followed us as owner Priscilla gave me a tour of the shop. What fun we had!
Did you know there are more than 50,000 mostly used books here, all presented in a very organized fashion? A substantial kids section is in front including original Landmark books from the ‘50s and ‘60s. Lots of teachers and homeschoolers shop here. Priscilla reminded me they love to receive gift certificates from OVB as gifts. Here are some of the categories I saw on our tour: Science, Math, Animals, Cookbooks (imagine cookbooks from the 50s!), Movies, Sports, Entertainment, Biographies (one of my personal favorites), Travel, Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Nutrition, Arts, and Crafts. The loft is filled with Fiction. You could spend hours in here!
Now here is the offer you can’t refuse. Ocean View Books has a new incentive to shop. It’s called “The Montrose Money Maximizer.” Whenever you shop anywhere in the Montrose Shopping Park, you can bring your receipt to OVB within 24 hours and buy up to that amount in used books at 50% off. Sounds like a great deal to me and a good reason to stop by and treat yourself.
Ocean View Books (3701 Ocean View Blvd., Suite E) is located right behind Coffee Bean, next to Quizno’s. It is owned by Priscilla Luther-Heft and her husband Mike, who is a science teacher at Rosemont Middle School. Their summer hours are Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Every third used book is free!
