Back to School Shopping in Montrose

School is starting early this year for the Glendale Unified School District, which means for those who have kids going back to school the rush is on to get everything you need for your kids. Do not forget to Shop Local!

When I walk around the shops in Montrose, I am always amazed at the products sold here that most people might not think about. There are Jansport backpacks, Vans, Ugg boots, kids clothing stores, Toms, sports equipment and clothing, athletic shoes, musical instruments, and so much more. If you have not been to Montrose lately to see what it has to offer, you should come. Billy’s Board Shop has backpacks and kids shoes. Shoe Fantasy has Toms, Converse and so much more.

It Takes a Village exclusively sells kids clothing. Grayson’s Tune Town meets all your musical needs. Landry’s Sporting Goods has what you need for PE and sports activities. Our next business mixer will be on a special night, Monday, Aug. 27 at Montrose Bakery and Coffee Shop. Owner Henry Baeza, who has been in Montrose for over 20 years, has just begun serving dinner! He will have samples of all the delicious new things that he has to offer and will of course have many of his pastry goods out as well. This will be a fun night in the heart of Montrose and a great way to connect to other businesses in the area.

Oktoberfest 2012 is just around the corner!! I wanted to remind everyone that we have three great costume contests that we host every year and we would love to have you participate. We are bringing back the Mr. and Mrs. Oktoberfest again, so please be sure to sign up for that. We will be having our Little Miss and Master Oktoberfest and the ever-popular best dressed dog contest. For our best dressed dog contest, we will be creating an annual trophy that will be on display at Montrose Pet Hospital. There are forms at Montrose Pet Hospital for you to enter the contest, so be sure to stop by.

We will also have our annual stein holding competition and our hot dog eating contest on the stage. We look forward to a great Oktoberfest this year.
