Getting kids to focus on school work can be a daunting endeavor but Brainworks Tutoring in La Crescenta has got it down to a science.
Since January of this year, patient tutors and facilitators provide individualized learning plans for each active mind that enters their program.
Brainworks tutors specialize in all subjects including English, U.S., World History, American and comparative government, biology, chemistry, physics or mathematics through calculus as well as test prep.
Keeping the curriculum fun is what keeps the kids interested, said Magnolia Aguirre, owner of Brainworks Tutoring.
“We use games,” Aguirre said. “We do a lot of hands-on activity which is more interactive. We know each student has a different learning style. Some are hands on and learn better that way. We try to make it fun in that way.”
All specialized curriculum at Brainworks complies with California state standards of education and tutors adhere to a high academic standard themselves, all being California state certified teachers with masters degrees in education.
Students range from second to 12th grade and no two students will ever receive the exact same learning plan, Aguirre said.
Tutors also work with students during summer sessions on coursework and subjects they can expect to see in their next school year, giving them a leg up on the new semester.
Students also work with tutors to develop and foster positive study skills for both advanced placement and remedial courses while instilling a healthy work ethic in their students that will impact their study habits for the long haul.
When students study at Brainworks, they’re not just getting a tutor, they’re also getting a mentor and a trusted life coach who hands them the skills and confidence to succeed in life and to understand the important role education plays in the development of their chosen career path.
Brainworks Tutoring welcomes new students at 3853 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta. For more information, call (818) 957-1646.
