Welcome to a New Business

Untitled 2
The Straw Hat Pizza ribbon cutting ceremony was a success! A very special thanks goes to Glendale mayor Dave Weaver for coming out to the event and to Vickere Murphy from Senator Carol Liu’s office, Suzanne Dunwell from Assemblymember Mike Gatto’s office, and Rita Hadjimanoukian from Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich’s office. Thank you for being a part of the event. To Chris and Stephanie McReynolds, thank you again for hosting and congratulations!

Straw Hat Pizza hosted approximately 25 people at the ribbon cutting ceremony. The lunch buffet was bountiful with piping hot pizza, potato wedges, garlic twists and market fresh salad bar. The freestyle Coke machine satisfied everyone’s desires with over 150 drink choices. Some were great new flavors I have never even heard of! I felt like I was a kid in a candy store! Not to mention all of the great fun available for kids – old and young – with the arcade and large flat screen televisions. Straw Hat Pizza is a great place to host your next group fundraiser, or even your next family meal. Take an opportunity to stop in and enjoy the food, fun and entertainment. Straw Hat Pizza is located at 3463 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta between Dunsmore Avenue and New York Avenue.

Last Wednesday evening was our August business mixer at the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge. Special thanks to President Ara Aslanian and his staff. Executive Director Deb Jordan did a fabulous job organizing the event. All offered a warm welcome to members and non-members at the mixer.

Food was picnic style with hot dogs, chips, fruit, refreshments, sweets and peanuts! I was particularly fascinated by the idea of tossing the peanut shells on the floor. It was the perfect touch to remind people that the community center is a place where you can feel at home!

The community center is home to the LCFCC preschool, and offers a variety of programs for people of all ages including ceramics, jewelry making, and salsa dancing. Those who attended the mixer were able to view some of the crafts on display that were created at the community center. Representatives from the preschool were present to answer any questions.

The community center is hosting a Thanksgiving Day Run and Food Drive at Memorial Park in La Cañada Flintridge on Nov. 22. Please visit their website at www.cclcf.org for more information on their programs and events.
