Business Expo, Free Shredding & Glendale Tech Week

The Foothills Community Business Expo is just around the corner on Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital. At the Expo you will find many businesses from La Crescenta, Montrose and La Cañada Flintridge sharing with you the services they offer. This is a great networking opportunity for anyone who owns a business in the area to stop by and mingle with other business owners as well as talk with the community members who have stopped in to see the Expo. There will be free food from local restaurants for you to sample and enjoy when you walk around.

Another highlight of the event is free shredding services available in the lower hospital lot. This service is provided by Athens Services and SCORE of Greater Los Angeles to anyone who wants to come by. Don’t miss this free chance to get rid of all that stuff you’ve accumulated in boxes in your office and get it shredded. You don’t even have to get out of your car. You just get into the line and pull your car up to the truck and the Glendale Police Dept. Explorers and Boy Scouts will be there to take all of your boxes out of the car for you; it will be shredded while you wait! It doesn’t get any easier than that!

The City of Glendale’s Economic Development Division is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Glendale Tech Week 2017 that starts Oct. 9 with a City-sponsored summit on Oct. 11-12. Last year’s Glendale Tech Week had over 1,000 attendees. This year, organizers expect to see even more participation from the tech community. Through talks, panels, site tours, happy hours and networking events, Glendale Tech Week 2017 will offer a fun, exciting and inspiring environment as we look to strengthen our innovative ecosystem in and around Glendale. Events will take place at the Alex Theatre, the Maryland Paseo, CBRE, Capital One, Antaeus Theatre, the Moose Den, and other exciting downtown venues. GEDD announced this year’s theme is “The Startup Journey,” addressing everything from ideas to development, funding, marketing and more. Tech Week is a five-day technology festival for entrepreneurs, tech visionaries and thought leaders to meet and enable the innovation ecosystem across the globe. The City of Glendale wanted to capitalize on the large number of technologically driven companies in the city. Tech Week draws attendees who are an attractive demographic ideal for recruiters and marketers alike.  The focus is on graphic design, animation, media, software development, illustration, web technology, intellectual discussion, web development, professional networking, entrepreneurship, visual effects, civic engagement, venture capital, technology startups, digital journalism, and much more. Please join us for our Oktoberfest kick-off mixer on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at SIG Property Management in Montrose from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 2937 Honolulu Ave. There will be bratwurst, sauerkraut and potato salad provide by Schreiner’s Fine Sausages and Samuel Adams Oktoberfest beer poured to drink. This mixer is always a lot of fun and is one of the largest we have during the year. We also have a fantastic Oktoberfest basket that will be given to the winner of our best-dressed Bavarian attendee.
