Art Walk … and More
The Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce will host the third Art Walk of the year on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Art lovers can come out, enjoy the beautiful weather, and watch artists perfecting their craft while strolling along the tree lined streets of the 2300 & 2400 blocks of Honolulu Avenue.
We will again feature some new artists who will be displaying their work alongside many of our regular artists. There will be many mediums represented: watercolors, oils, acrylics, etchings, photographs, collages and more. There will again be music playing for guests to enjoy. The holidays are coming soon and this is a great place to find unique, one-of-a-kind gifts for your friends and family. Also when you visit Montrose, it’s a great opportunity to shop and dine. We have some newer restaurants and shops in town. You can have lunch at one of the many restaurants, have an ice cream cone or sweet treat and browse all the wonderful shops on Honolulu Avenue. If you haven’t been shopping in Montrose in a while there is no better time for you to stop in and see what they have to offer. Maybe you still need some things for back to school. The retailers are always bringing in new merchandise and many of them are ready for the fall season. As you look around you will find things here that you didn’t even know we had. Remember when you shop local, we all benefit.
Don’t forget to come to the Foothills Community Business Expo on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The event is free and runs from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the fourth floor community rooms right at the main entrance to the hospital. This Business Expo is a tri-chamber event sponsored by the Crescenta Valley, La Cañada Flintridge and Montrose-Verdugo City chambers of commerce and is co-sponsored by USC-Verdugo Hills Hospital. The Expo provides chamber business members and community organizations an opportunity to display and highlight products and services to businesses and residents of the foothills community. For the community, this free event provides a way for members to learn about many of the different businesses in the foothills area and speak to the owners one on one all in one place. The event is also offering free shredding services. Two shredding trucks sponsored by Allied Waste Services will be located at the lower east side parking lot of the hospital. Local residents and business may bring up to 10 boxes of old documents to be shredded. An express line will be available for customers with three units (boxes or bags) or less to be shredded. So, please plan to join us on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at USC-Verdugo Hills Hospital.
