“When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.” ~ Kahlil Gibran

Yes, I was weeping last week. I was weeping because the most beautiful, positive woman that I have ever met was now gone from my life at this moment.  However, I believe that she is in a better place and I learned from my mother to enjoy life, take time to smell the roses, make lemonade when life gives you lemons and party on. So that is what I am going to do and I hope you join me!

Our next CV Chamber “party” of sorts is our Foothills Community Business Expo. This premier business networking event of the year is Wednesday, Sept. 14  from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Verdugo Hills Hospital. It is brought to you by all three local chambers of commerce: Crescenta Valley, La Cañada Flintridge and Montrose-Verdugo City.

As of the writing of this article, we only have one booth left. We will have 65 vendors displaying their goods, demonstrating their services and networking with the other participants and the general public. The public is invited for free and the following restaurants will be serving delicious food: Angeles National Golf Club, Dream Dinners La Crescenta, Frank’s Famous Kitchen & Catering, Leo’s All-Star Sports Bar & Grill, Leon Bakery & Café, Loco Wings, Montrose Bakery, Pepe’s Mexican restaurant, and Quiznos Montrose. There will also be raffle drawings throughout the evening for fabulous prizes donated by the local businesses. An iPad 2 will be given away by Crescenta Valley Insurance and SageCADRE will be offering a free marketing business video of the first 25 businesses to show up at their booth.  The evening brings free admission, free food, entertainment and raffle drawings.  Now that sounds to me like a party you would not want to miss!

Also, mark your calendars for a running “party.” Saturday, Sept. 25 is our 5K Walk/Run and Kids Fun Run. The 5K starts at 8 a.m., with check-in starting at 7 a.m. at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. in La Crescenta. Cost is only $20, which includes a T-shirt. This is co-sponsored with the Crescenta Valley Drug & Alcohol Prevention Coalition and part of the proceeds will be donated to the Rosemont Middle School Afterschool sports program. You can sign up and pay through our website www.LaCrescenta.org.

One last thing, I wish to thank those of you that helped me through last week and those of you that were able to be with me as we celebrated the life of my mother last Friday. I was overwhelmed by seeing so many people at her service. Thank you for joining me, for the beautiful flowers and for the hugs. I appreciate you!
