No Trace Oktoberfest: Our Thanks to the Community
Have you ever heard of “no trace camping?” It’s actually a great idea that not only keeps the environment untouched, it also teaches outdoorsmen to do their very best to keep the world as it is. The idea behind “no trace” is that when you leave an area, whether camping in the outdoors or making cupcakes in the kitchen, there is no trace or evidence left behind that you were there. And thanks to the great staff and crew at J’s Maintenance in La Crescenta, I feel that we did just that after our Oktoberfest event on Saturday.
Considering the number of people, amount of equipment and food, stages and trash, it was amazing to see how clean and put back together our beautiful street was the next day! We are thankful to the Montrose Shopping Park businesses and the surrounding community for allowing us to do this one-day “pop up” Oktoberfest on Honolulu Avenue. This year was our 40th anniversary and we really wanted it to be for the community.
Our Oktoberfest is the third longest running in Southern California and La Crescenta is home to the first Oktoberfest in California, thanks to the large German population we had here in the 1950s. Our gift back to the businesses and the community is our “no trace Oktoberfest.” Chris Waldheim and the staff of J’s Maintenance worked tirelessly before, during and after the event to keep the streets clean, the trash cans empty and the atmosphere festive. Thank you so much, J’s Maintenance. If you are in need of any type of cleaning services, try J’s Maintenance located in La Crescenta. And the next time you go camping or to the beach or make something for an upcoming bake sale, remember the “no trace” policy and see how fun cleaning up can be!
