ell, it was a happy and fun Oktoberfest, but now it’s time to get back to work. Time to put away my alpine hats and my tracht until next year. But before I definitively close the Oktoberfest news until next year, allow me to thank the public for coming by and making the Oktoberfest such a great success. It is the public’s support that allows us to hold this event year after year. So to you, gentle reader, I say “kudos” and ask that you kindly pat yourself on the back. No seriously, go ahead – you deserve it.
Now that that is behind us, we still have yet another event to look forward to. Yes, our last Artwalk of the year is coming around on Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. If you haven’t been to our previous Artwalks, you’re missing out. I’m always taken aback by the creativity and imagination of our Artwalk participants. So many different styles and genres to gaze at. At the last Artwalk, we enjoyed photographs of rock icons, brilliant watercolors, whimsical sculptures, dazzling oil paintings, and more. Sitting in the warm afternoon breeze, it was a real treat to be able to soak in the artwork. Don’t miss out – make sure to visit our next Artwalk. If you have the artistic talents and would like to participate, call the MVCC office and let us know. Check the information at the bottom of this page for details.
Talking about all this artistic appetite has got my gastric appetite working up. So perhaps I ought to make way to Frank’s Famous Kitchen and catering (3315 N. Verdugo Road; [818] 249-6100) for their October specials. Stop in at Frank’s during the week of Oct. 18 for beef rouaden, potato pancakes, fresh vegetable and Frank’s Salad – all for $14.99. Or come by on the week of Oct. 26 for pork schnitzel with egg noodles, braised red cabbage and fresh vegetable for $12.99. Just hearing about all of this is making me salivate. Call Frank’s at the number above and tell them the Montrose/Verdugo chamber sent you. Hope you’ve got an elastic waistband to make room for Frank’s goodies.
