If you haven’t been to Marz Consignment in Montrose, it’s time to stop by.  Here is what owner Melanie Price had to say about her store:

“The store opened in 1990, and was and still is a women’s consignment designer clothing store. We also carry shoes, handbags, accessories, jewelry and recently just launched our little girls high-end clothing called ‘Mini Marz,’ inspired by my daughter. The most popular labels are YSL, Armani, Theory, St. John, Dooney and Bourke, Coach, Marc Jacobs, Elizabeth and James, Kate Spade, Isabella Fiore, Fendi, Gucci and much, much more.

“The concept is a simple one. Bring in your laundered, dry-cleaned clothes/items that are no older than three years and we will review them. For whatever items we choose to keep and re-sell in the store, you will receive 40% of the sale price after it sells. You can use the money for store credit or we will pay you out.

“If the items do not sell, we will return the item(s) to you or donate it to Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that provides interview suits, confidence boosts, and career development to low-income women, or House of Ruth that assists women and children victimized by domestic violence in eastern Los Angeles County.

“Our environment is upbeat and friendly. We have something for the mother, the daughter, the grandmother and now the wee girl, too. So come on by and get a bargain!

“I have always loved fashion. I worked on the wholesale end of the fashion industry in NY for 13 years until I moved to L.A. six years ago to manage a designer showroom in downtown Los Angeles. Now I also own and oversee this shop!

“I used to be a consigner many moons ago at a store in my hometown in NJ and I was just fascinated by the idea of recycling clothing for a profit – how smart!  In 2010 when the industry took a turn for the worse, I wanted more for myself. As I started doing my own research, I found Marz for sale. I went to visit the store and it was like love at first sight.

“Fast forward three years, and here you have it! Now consignment is so on trend and is a great way to be a part of the green movement. How about that! We have a lot of fun quirky promos going on. If you bring in 10 recyclable shopping bags, we will give you a 10% discount off your order.
