Community Meeting with
Councilmember Laura Friedman
Glendale City Councilmember Laura Friedman is coming to Montrose to give a State of the City address to the northern Glendale area. She will be speaking at the Sparr Heights Community Center on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
For the past year and half, I have been having regular meetings with Laura Friedman, bringing the successes as well as the concerns of the area to her attention. She has taken a proactive role to represent this area and to bring the issues of the area before the city council. I asked her if she would come to the area and give an update on what is going on in the city of Glendale and help build a greater connection between downtown Glendale and northern Glendale and she is happy to do it. Please mark your calendars and spread the word to come hear Laura Friedman. There will also be a time for questions and answers at the end of address. Please take this opportunity to bring the questions or concerns that you have regarding the north Glendale area so that we can begin a discussion regarding them. Ms. Friedman was instrumental in bringing the concerns of the community regarding the Honolulu Road Diet before the council and, because you voiced your concerns and desires, you were heard.
Ms. Friedman was elected as a Glendale City Council member in 2009 and was elected mayor by her city council colleagues in April 2011. She served as mayor of Glendale from April 2011 to April 2012. She is active in a number of local organizations including the Metropolitan Water District, Independent Cities Association, Arroyo Verdugo Council of Governments Steering Committee, League of CA Cities Housing, Glendale Design Review Board, Society of Architectural Historians and Los Angeles Conservancy Modern Committee.
