The Verdugo Jobs Center is located at 1255 S. Central Ave. in Glendale and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The mission of the Verdugo Jobs Center is to provide leadership to ensure that local resources are leveraged and partnerships are formed to enhance workforce quality, job opportunities, and economic vitality in the Verdugo region. At the VJC they have many types of services. Here you will also find summer and year-round employment opportunities, on-the-job training opportunities for employers, individual case management, leadership development and tutoring and training.

Verdugo Jobs Center is a great place to begin if you need work. This Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon, the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) program will be hosting the first Disability Resource Fair in honor of National Disability Awareness Month. Would you like to connect with disability resources in the community? Sign up for different programs and services? Have your disability questions answered by professionals? Learn about Medicare, Medi-Cal, Work Incentives Planning and Assistance Program (WIPA) and Disability Employment Accelerator (DEA)? Then this is a great event for you to attend. National Disability Awareness Month, held in October, is a national campaign led by the U.S. Dept. of Labor’s (DOL) Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) that raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. The event will start with a seminar on both the Medicare and Medi-Cal programs to be presented by the Center for Health Care Rights. A total of 20 community providers have confirmed their support and participation to promote their respective programs and various resources catered to the disabled population. The Glendale Housing Dept., California Dept. of Rehabilitation (DOR), Disability Rights California (DRC), Social Security Administration (SSA), State Council on Developmental Disabilities, Center for Health Care Rights (CHCR), Internal Revenue Services (IRS), Ascencia Housing Services, Employment Networks, MCS & Goodwill So. Cal, West Angeles Community Development Corporation, Independent Living Center of Southern CA and more will be present at the event.
