Reconnecting with the community

“In our hectic, fast-paced, consumer-driven society, it’s common to feel overwhelmed, isolated and alone. Many are re-discovering the healing and empowering role that community can bring to our lives. The sense of belonging we feel when we make the time to take an active role in our communities can give us a deeper sense of meaning and purpose.”

Thank you to the following restaurants taking part in this community event:  Baja Fresh Mexican Grill, Berolina Bakery, Damon’s Steakhouse, Dominick’s Italian Restaurant, Dominos Pizza, Dream Dinners, Frank’s Famous Kitchen & Catering,  House of Joy, Leo’s All-Star Sports Bar & Grill, New Moon, Ralphs Fresh Fare, Schreiner’s Fine Sausages, Senior Nacho, Starbucks, Urartu, Tortas Mexico, Trader Joe’s, and Togo’s/Baskin Robbins. Another way to help build the community is to “shop local” and support our community businesses. Did you know ABC Auto Electric is celebrating 22 years in business and just opened a new division called Crescenta Valley Auto Sales? Go visit them at 3711 Foothill Blvd. (the big yellow building) and see what autos they have for sale. You can also visit their website at www.abcae.com or call (818) 248-2886.

You can also visit Evelyn, owner of Piano with Evelyn, to learn piano just in time to learn some holiday songs.  Evelyn has been teaching piano for over 40 years.  She teaches children and also has adult students who are first time beginners or those who have a desire to re-learn their piano skills. Evelyn says, “The skills developed while learning music enhance many other aspects your life.” Visit her website at www.pianowithevelyn.com or call her at (818) 248-3311.

And if you are planning a holiday party, Damon’s Steak House has a private banquet room and special group packages.  It has been voted best steak house numerous times and is a landmark in Glendale.  Visit their website at www.damonsglendale.com to read about the interesting history of the restaurant or visit the restaurant to taste the delicious food yourself at 317 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale (818) 507-1510. You can always come by the Taste in the Foothills on Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11 to get a taste of Damon’s delicious food as well.

Don’t be alone; you belong with the Crescenta Valley Chamber.
