Dining together

“Community cannot for long feed on itself; it can only flourish with the coming of others from beyond, their unknown and undiscovered brothers.”

— Howard Thurman

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce would like to thank those that came to our third annual Taste in the Foothills last Wednesday, Nov. 10. Our estimate is that over 600 hungry people joined us to eat delicious food from 20 different vendors including Baja Fresh Mexican Grill, Berolina Bakery, Dominick’s Italian Restaurant, Dominos Pizza, Dream Dinners, Edible Arrangements, El Charro Mexican, Frank’s Famous Kitchen & Catering, Garden Grill, Gourmet a-Go-Go, House of Joy, Kyochon Chicken, Lenny G’s Taste of Louisiana, Leo’s All-Star Sports Bar & Grill, Los Gringos Locos, New Moon, Ralph’s Fresh Fare, Starbucks, and Togo’s/ Baskin Robbins. Thank you also to Crescenta Valley Insurance for providing beverages.

A huge thank you goes to Roger Sondergaard for organizing Monte Vista’s Dine-Out Night to be in conjunction with our Taste in the Foothills. It was nice to see over 200 Monte Vista families support our event and we, in turn, will be helping to support their school with 20% of the tickets sold given back to Monte Vista.

We could not have had such a successful event without the wonderful restaurants that donate their delicious food to our community. House of Joy, one of the generous supporters of this event, has been serving our community for more than two decades. Family owned and operated since 1984, they strive to provide their patrons with great tasting food and courteous service and have done so for many years. It is their goal to present customers with a joyous, family-style dining experience and unique food that combines the tastefulness of distinctive cuisines from the orient. Please visit House of Joy at 3220 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta.

Then for dessert, visit Berolina Bakery. At this truly European bakery, you will find freshly baked artisan breads, a wide assortment of danish and croissants, traditional European cakes and pastries and a unique lunch menu. Familiar to the international palate and a delightful discovery for the evolving appetite, the menu at Berolina is certain to please those who seek the finest culinary experience. Owned and operated by a local European couple since 1991, Berolina boasts traditional favorites as well as signature specialties. They can be found at 3421 Ocean View Blvd.  in Montrose.

Our community could not for long feed on itself; it can only flourish with the coming of others from beyond, like the fine people and restaurants that joined us last Wednesday. Thank you!

Important dates: Dec. 8 – Business mixer at April Ray Salon.
