How to achieve smooth sailing

“A community is like a ship; everyone ought to be prepared to take the helm.”           — Henrik Ibsen

At the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce, the wonderful person taking the helm as president for the year 2011 is none other than Leslie Lesh of Leo’s All-Star Sports Bar & Grill. We are lucky to have Leslie, not only as a great supporter of the Crescenta Valley, but also as a wonderful business owner here in the area. It’s no wonder Leo’s All-Star Sports Bar & Grill was voted #1 in the Best of Glendale and also voted the Best Sports Bar in Los Angeles. They are an upscale sports bar with a casual environment and a neighborhood feel. Everyone loves to visit, relax and have a great time. For football fans, Leo’s is the only place in town where you can watch every NFL football game and enjoy Sunday breakfast from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. If you do not find owners Leslie and Leo at Leo’s All-Star Sports Bar & Grill, you will probably see them out in the community volunteering their time and resources. Stop by Leo’s All-Star Sports Bar & Grill at 2941 Honolulu Ave. in La Crescenta to enjoy their full menu featuring a wide variety of items from sandwiches to pizza to specialty appetizers — and tell them the Chamber sent you. I might even see you there this holiday weekend!

On Thanksgiving Day, we are usually reminded to be thankful for all the blessings in life. Hopefully, as the economy improves, people will do better, feel better and be able to be thankful every day. A nice quote that helps me to be thankful every day is by Alphonse Karr: “Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns; I am thankful that thorns have roses.” I am thankful for all the roses in my personal life and here at the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce. People such as our incoming president Leslie Lesh and our outgoing president Jean Maluccio are beautiful roses in my life and in the Crescenta Valley, by always volunteering their time and resources to make this a better town to live in.

My wish on this Thanksgiving is that everyone in the Crescenta Valley always has many beautiful roses in their lives, floral and personal.
