Small Business Saturday

Dear Chamber friends,
It is with some sadness that I let you know I’m leaving my position as executive director of the CV Chamber and moving on to a full-time job elsewhere. I’ve enjoyed getting to know so many dynamic members of the community, people who give of themselves for the good of all. The assistant ED, Robyn Forrand, takes over as the executive director as of this week. I leave the daily operations of the chamber in good hands. You may continue to contact the office at info@crescentavalleychamber.org or at (818) 248-4957 and Robyn will be happy to assist you. I have taken on a volunteer chamber board position so you’ll still see me at chamber functions.

See you around town! All the best, Lisa Dupuy

With that being said, it is my pleasure to introduce myself as the new executive director of the chamber. Lisa has been a wonderful co-worker and she will certainly be missed. It is my goal to bring you the same level of service and news that Lisa has brought to you. We at the chamber wish Lisa all the best in her new position and are pleased she will be serving on our board.

Well, this week is a short one and I, for one, am looking forward to the upcoming holiday. We all have shopping to do so it makes sense to remind folks of the upcoming annual shopping tradition that is known as “Small Business Saturday.” It is held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. Started by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday is a nationwide event and a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities.

So it is in this tradition that we encourage holiday shoppers to patronize brick-and-mortar businesses that are small and local. La Crescenta is a perfect area with many businesses that have wonderful gifts for your friends and family. Some of our local businesses participate in our member-to-member discount program. This program is available only to chamber members.

Here is a list of participating business members that may interest you: Sue’s Hallmark & Boutique offers $5 off of your purchase of $25 or more. They specialize in greeting cards, giftwrap, ornaments and lots of other gifts. And for your jewelry needs … there’s Vitorio’s Jewelers that offers a 15% discount on sales to chamber members. For your spiritual friends, The Center for Spiritual Living has a 20% discount at the bookstore. Looking to throw a party? Need a place to gather this holiday season? The American Legion offers a 10% discount on the facility rental and they have a new floor that is great for dancing.

In any event, we at the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce hope that your shopping experiences are pleasant ones and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and a joyous holiday season.
