Christmas time in Montrose

rose_gamgleI hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and to those who lived thru Black Friday: Congratulations!

We have a lot happening this weekend, starting with the 33rd Annual Montrose Christmas Parade. This is always an exciting time of the year for young and old alike. Steve Pierce, our parade chairperson, is doing a great job getting all our key people lined up for the best parade ever. I know my husband is looking forward to seeing Smokey the Bear. The parade starts at 6:15 p.m., but come early to reserve your space along Honolulu Avenue.

There are so many great shops in Montrose and each is unique. For a special one of a kind gift try La Perla Gallery or Mountain Rose Gifts. For the Sports buff there is Landry’s Sporting Goods and Billy’s Boardshop. For toys, don’t forget Tom’s Toys!

Montrose is truly a one stop shopping experience. From having a great meal to getting a great haircut and a new outfit for the holidays. After getting that great hairstyle from Images, stop by Merle Norman for a new makeover to match that new look.

When it comes to a variety of food, we have it all here in Montrose, from Mexican El Charro and Pepe’s to our Oriental cuisine New Moon. Or if you feel like a steak try Black Cow Café or Oceanview Contemporary Bistro.

Don’t forget our little four legged friends. Andersen’s Pet Shop has a great variety of things for them.

All these shops I have mentioned are in our hometown Montrose. All we need is some snow and it would be a town right out of a Dickens calendar. The people are friendly and the majority of people seemed to have lived here most of their lives. My mom used to say that you might move from Montrose but you always come back at one time or another. She was right; I came here from Kansas when I was 2 years old, moved away when I was 22 and came back when I was 39. I am still here, but no, I won’t tell you how old I am now!

See you at the parade!
