Reliable Emergency News Easy to Access
Bad news spreads quickly and causes confusion. That is exactly what has been happening regarding the Creek Fire in Sylmar. We are all very concerned for our homes and our families and we want the most reliable information. Unfortunately, when we have the wrong information and we share it, things can get out of hand very quickly. We are lucky to live in the City of Glendale that provides many reliable, accurate sources from which we can get localized information. According to Tom Lorenz, director of Communications & Community Relations, “Here in the Montrose-La Crescenta Glendale area ‘we’ are the ‘accurate’ source for emergency information. If you live in the Montrose, La Crescenta or Glendale area, you need to follow the local Glendale, reliable sources for emergency information. Information from autogenerated social media apps are not put out by any public safety entity and is almost always inaccurate. Last night we received multiple inquiries about mandatory evacuations in parts of Glendale. Those reports were incorrect. There were no evacuations in the Montrose-La Crescenta area. We encourage everyone to get their news from the many City resources we have. It is local, and it is accurate.”
Should there be an emergency in Glendale, find all necessary emergency contacts at the city website glendaleca.gov and search “emergency communications” and “emergency preparedness response.” For tips on how to be prepared for wildfires, check out MyGlendaleCityNews.org.
