MSPA Welcomes
New Board Members
Please join us in welcoming two new members to the Montrose Shopping Park board of directors. Both Corey Grijalva and Andre Ordubegian may be new to the board but they are certainly not new to the town. Both of these men have young families and well-established businesses. Corey and his family own popular Joselito’s Mexican Restaurant. Andre recently celebrated the expansion and 20 year anniversary of Copy Network in the Montrose Shopping Park.
When you are representing close to 190 businesses it is certainly a plus to have experience with the town and the business owners whose livelihood is here. Those very people made their voices heard when they chose experience and longevity by a wide margin in our recent election. Earlier this year, board president Alyce Russell, with the support of the board, asked Ken Grayson, owner of Grayson’s Tune Town, to come back and lend his expertise. Ken has a long history of serving on both Chamber and MSPA boards as president and treasurer. Corey’s family also has a substantial history of serving the MSPA. As a matter of fact, Corey’s mom Myrna served for many years as president and in other leadership roles along with Ken. We are happy to see the Grijalva name back on the board.
Both Corey and Andre will take their seats in January. They will be joining myself, Ken, Danny Pranata, whose family owns Honolulu Wood and Things as well as buildings on Honolulu, and Jake Menachian, owner of LaPerla Design Gallery.
The new year looks to be a big year for the MSPA as we plan to celebrate the 99th birthday of Montrose along with a full events calendar. As many of you know, the shopping park is a business improvement district. Our members pay an assessment for the privilege of doing business here. These funds are used to promote the town and the businesses of the MSPA. Yes, it is your local merchants who pay for the beautiful lights that wrap our trees, the live bands entertaining you on our streets, Santa, the ponies and the horse drawn trolley. Our message is, “Thank you for shopping local,” for shopping Montrose. We are blessed to have such a beautiful town of unique stores, cafes, and salons. Come home to Montrose for the holidays.
P.S. I had the pleasure of representing the MSPA by riding in our wonderful parade last week. If you would like to see who I met and what it was like, go to our blog at www.shopmontrose.com.
