Lending a Hand in a Neighborly Manner

“While the spirit of neighborliness was important on the frontier because neighbors were so few, it is even more important now because our neighbors are so many.”

Hopefully this holiday season you are shopping locally and helping our local neighbors.  I read on the internet, “When you buy from a mom or pop business, you are not helping a CEO buy a third vacation home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team jersey, a mom or dad put food on the table, a family pay the mortgage, or a student pay for college. Thank you for supporting small businesses.”

One small business owner is Emma Garabetian of Modella Clothing. Her relocated clothing store is having a ribbon cutting this Friday, Dec. 14 at noon at her new location, 3115 Foothill Blvd., Suite E in La Crescenta. We hope you support this small business and maybe get some of your holiday shopping done at the same time.      Modella Clothing has very good quality clothing and great prices. Emma prides herself on excellent customer service and a selection that cannot be found at any department stores. They have clothes for every age and her line includes handbags, accessories, and of course, women’s clothing.

Emma opened her first location in 1995 when her second child started preschool. Her mom was into manufacturing ladies’ clothing and so she grew up around fashion and always loved it. Since her two children had started school she knew she wanted to keep busy and clothing was her favorite passion. She says if you do what you love then it really is not working.

Her first location in 1995 was only 150 sq. ft., however in six months she expanded to a store triple that size and then within a year expanded again. Within four years she bought the property and started a uniform line as well. Soon she separated the uniform store and now she is relocating the clothing store next to her uniform store in order to be able to have the best customer service with both stores directly next door. Modella Clothing is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is closed Sunday and Monday.

Please visit her store this holiday season and come to her grand opening/ ribbon cutting this Friday, Dec. 14 at noon. She will have refreshments and you will be able to see this beautiful store.
