Last Saturday I had the pleasure of working in my store on Honolulu Avenue. Normally this time of year we play nostalgic Christmas CDs throughout the day. On this crisp and sunny December day we happened to have the Ann Louise Trio set up in the circle right in front of our store. Oh, lucky me! I was able to open my door and let the original tunes and famous medleys of this talented group waft in our door for all of our customers to enjoy. And enjoy we did, especially when they played the Snoopy Christmas song and then later when couples spontaneously did the swing dance on the sidewalk.

If that treat wasn’t enough, I happened to look up just in time to see our horse drawn trolley with it’s prancing white horses being led by the driver who was decked out in a Christmas cowboy hat. The trolley was full of happy shoppers. No sooner did they take off then Santa came strolling by with his basket of candy canes. Yes, this is what it is like to do your Christmas shopping in Montrose.

Later in the day the entire Crescenta Valley High carolers, otherwise known as “The Charismatics,” performed a medley of carols right in front of Montrose Home Bakery. They drew quite a crowd as folks stopped, listened, took pics and videos. It’s not every day you get to see a large group of trained and costumed Dickens carolers like this.

This is the last real Christmas weekend to shop and enjoy. Next Saturday is Christmas Eve. It all goes by so fast!

So why don’t you consider shopping in Montrose this weekend? It’s beautiful and peaceful and you and your family will be tastefully entertained throughout the day. This Saturday, in addition to all I described above, we will have the Frankie Marsico Trio and free hand led pony rides for the kids. You just can’t beat it!

Sunday at our Harvest Market we have another gift for you and your family. Our ever popular petting zoo is back. Your children and grandchildren will love this! The Frankie Marsico Trio will be playing by the war memorial and our beloved Gremoli  Band will be out in full force at our Harvest & Thieves Market.

How about it, folks? Let’s shop local this year. You get the pleasure of supporting your local one of a kind stores, cafés and salons and at the same time get to see your neighbors and friends during the happy holidays.

See you in Montrose!  www.shopmontrose.com
