“I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security. Defense of our resources is just as important as defense abroad. Otherwise what is there to defend?”
— Robert Redford, Yosemite National Park dedication, 1985
What is on your Christmas list – a new television or a new computer? We hope you have been good this year and Santa brings you a new 60” television, because 1) we know it will make you happy and 2) you can bring your old television to our free e-waste recycling event.
On Saturday, Jan. 15, you can dispose of those old items that got replaced with your new Christmas presents or if you clean out your garage over the holidays you can get rid of any e-waste you have gathering dust. Bring your PCs, CPUs, televisions, CRT monitors, printers, fax machines, copiers, or most any other electronics to the CV Chamber office parking lot for e-recycling. Call the chamber if you have a question about what electronics they will take. The event, organized by Global e-Recyclers, Inc., will take place at the chamber office parking lot at Palms Plaza, 3131 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta on Saturday, Jan. 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Global e-Recyclers, Inc. will make sure your e-waste is properly handled, disposed of and recycled. They also include identity theft protection via data destruction of your hard drives and the best part of it is the fact that you are helping the environment and putting less in the landfills!
Mark your calendars to bid adieu to our old and say hello to our new CV Chamber board of directors. We will be honoring and thanking our outgoing officers who have spent many years helping our community by volunteering countless hours to chamber events and activities. We are thanking Jean Maluccio, our outgoing president; Steve Pierce, our outgoing honorary mayor; and directors Kate Bernier and Dennis Erdman who are leaving the board. Please join us on Thursday, Jan. 13, at 11:00 a.m. for our luncheon at Chevy Chase Country Club. This luncheon will also feature the distribution of the Mary Pinola/CV Chamber Educational Endowment funds that are being given to 14 deserving educational institutions in the Crescenta Valley. Our new slate of 2011 officers to be sworn in are President Leslie Lesh, Vice President Neil Ryan, Secretary Eleanor Wacker, Treasurer Craig Fisher and Honorary Mayor Leonard Ghazarian.
We do hope you join us to honor and thank those who are leaving us and welcome in our new officers.
The Crescenta Valley Chamber wishes everyone a beautiful and safe holiday season filled with family, friends, laughter and new televisions!
