Appreciating all that the Crescenta Valley has to offer

“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.”

The Crescenta Valley Chamber

of C o m m e r c e hopes that you are all experiencing the joy of the holiday season. We wish you nothing but love, harmony and joy. We hope you experience the beauty of someone to laugh with, someone to touch, and someone that brings you joy. We hope you take time this holiday season to enjoy the beautiful scenery, lights and decorations that are all over the Crescenta Valley as well.

To really induce holiday spirit you should visit 3500 Santa Carlotta Ave. in La Crescenta. Will Richards and his family have built a spectacular lighted winter wonderland, with over 30,000 lights all choreographed to wonderful holiday music. Will Richards, the creator of this stunning display, is a Crescenta Valley High School junior and starts working on his holiday masterpiece on Nov. 1. It is ready for viewing by Dec. 1 and gets hundreds of visitors, especially on the weekends. It is an actual light show with each blink precisely choreographed to each song. Will says it takes him three hours to program each minute of each song and he purchased a transmitter so he could broadcast the songs over 99.1 radio station. Will and his father even built a train that rides through the yard, along with a teeter-totter with a snowman and gingerbread men going up and down to the music. There is even an impressive touch screen telling you which  song is playing and allowing visitors to pick the next song. This is an amazing Crescenta Valley scene and even more amazing that this talented young man is deciding to be a fireman, instead of building light shows for some fancy Las Vegas hotel.

Then as you leave this amazing place, drive east about a mile to the newly named Christmas Lane at 3000 Paraiso Way where a lighted tree that seems to stand 100 feet in the air will guide your way down another spectacular lighted street. One of the homes even has Santa visits and snow that floats in the air. These homes right here in La Crescenta are just a fraction of the joy that living in the Crescenta Valley brings. May the season bring even more joy than you can imagine and a prosperous 2010.
