La Crescenta Avenue: Road & Safety Improvements Begin March 2025

The City of Glendale Public Works Dept. is set to begin the La Crescenta Avenue Rehabilitation Project in March 2025. This project aims to enhance roadway conditions, improve traffic safety and boost pedestrian accessibility throughout the corridor.

Key features of the project include:

  • Infrastructure Upgrades: Resurfacing roadways, installing new larger sewer lines and bio-retention facilities, planting new street trees, and modernizing traffic signals to improve pedestrian and commuter experience and safety.
  • Roadway Improvements: Removal of one travel lane in each direction to accommodate a center two-way left-turn lane and dedicated bicycle lanes.
  • Enhanced Pedestrian Amenities: Upgrading sidewalks, installing ADA-compliant curb ramps, realigning intersections and adding new signalized pedestrian crossing with creative crosswalk designs for improved visibility and safety.

Below is the tentative construction schedule for the upcoming months, from March 31 until end of May. During the construction phase, the neighboring community should expect the following: traffic delays, road closures, reduced parking and driveway closures.

  Tentative Construction Schedule:

  • March 31: Contractor mobilization and preparatory work
  • April 2 – April 4: Survey for sewer main upgrades
  • April 7 – 18: Contractor to perform potholing for utilities
  • April 21 – May 30: Contractor to complete sewer upgrades between Verdugo Rd. and Paloma Ave.
