The YMCA of The Foothills Trunk or Treat Sees a Record Number of Ghosts & Goblins

More than 400 Trunk or Treaters showed up at the YMCA of the Foothills parking lot to grab their treats out of trunks.

On Friday, the YMCA in the Foothills in La Cañada sponsored more than 400 trunk-or-treaters who roamed the facility of the Y gathering treats, showing off costumes, decorating pumpkins and more. The evening event turned out to be as much of a costume parade and a picnic as it was treats in trunks.

“Armed but not dangerous” are, from left, Brayden Johnston, 10, dressed as Freddy Krueger and Otto Eckhert, 11, dressed as a soldier.

The Y’s multi-purpose room was wall-to-wall with costumed skeletons, princesses, ghouls and ghosts. Y staff members did their best to keep up with the demand for cotton candy and popcorn by their Halloween guests who munched as they decorated pumpkins at craft tables. The face-painting station was standing room only. A full-fledged popcorn machine manned by Y staff popped pounds of popcorn from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Orange pumpkins and orange balloons were the décor of the day.   

According to YMCA director of Marketing & Communications Kat Corona-Pilgrim, the Y is looking forward to an even bigger Halloween party next year.

The YMCA multi-purpose room was full of big and little people decorating pumpkins, munching on treats and showing off their costumes.

The real estate company Thomas Atamian + Associates in Pasadena co-sponsored the event.
