La Cañada Presbyterian Church’s Parent Education Program (LCPC Parent Ed) recently hosted donation collections and events supporting its local mission partner, FosterAll. To celebrate the holiday together and show appreciation to foster families who have opened up their hearts and homes to children in need, LCPC Parent Ed held a Christmas toy drive collecting new toys for boys and girls. Answering the call, LCPC parishioners and Parent Ed participants donated over 200 toys for the toy drive.
Then, on Dec. 7, the LCPC campus was transformed into a winter wonderland for foster families to enjoy a fun-filled day that included games, crafts, music, entertainment, hot cocoa bar, a delicious meal and Santa’s Toy Shop! Children were invited to take books from Santa’s library, shop in Santa’s Toy Shop and take a photo with Santa Claus himself! Families were treated to free family photos with a professional photographer.
LCPC Parent Ed board members provided support for the event organized by Outreach Chair Heather Adamack. FosterAll’s Kathy Hernandez organized the impactful event with help from volunteers from many churches including La Cañada Presbyterian Church.
FosterAll recruits prospective foster parents from faith communities and provides ongoing support to these families so that they can provide safe and loving homes for the thousands of children who have been abused and neglected. Since its inception, this process has been repeated over 3,600 times and has created countless families.
FosterAll emerged in 1985 when Dr. Mary Rotzien served as an intern at the MacLaren Children’s Center, a troubled Los Angeles County residential facility that has since closed.
FosterAll, with over 350 faith partners, strives to find these children safe, supportive and loving homes.
