Glendale fire and police departments responded to a possible arson attempt at a local tax preparation firm in the 3600 block of Ocean View Boulevard on Monday about 2:15 a.m.
Police received a call from a witness who heard an alarm activate inside Der Sarkissian and Associates. According to the witness, at about 1:45 a.m. two men were seen entering the building through the back entrance. The men were described as 5’10” to 6′ tall, both wore black jackets, black pants and black shoes. The witness, who was walking his dog at the time he noticed the men, had walked back to his home when he heard the alarm and contacted the police.
When firefighters and officers arrived, they smelled smoke coming from inside the location and water was leaking from the sides of the front door. The fire department cleared the business.
The business has four offices with a desk in each in addition to four other desks in the center. The contents of all but one of the desks had been damaged by water. There were also a burnt office chair and burnt trash can.
The incident is under investigation.
