The Glendale Unified School District would like to
announce that Cerritos, Edison and Muir Elementary Schools have
received California Distinguished School status. These three schools
are part of the 424 schools announced today by State Superintendent of
Public Instruction Tom Torlakson. We are proud of their vision of
academic excellence and for narrowing the achievement gaps.
This is also Cerritos Elementary School’s first time receiving the
prestigious award.
The California School Recognition Program honors the state’s most
exemplary and inspiring public schools. Elementary and secondary
schools are recognized during alternate years.
This now makes 25 schools in our District that have received
Distinguished School status.
These schools, along with the others, will be honored in early June
during regional award ceremonies.
