GALA TICKETS ON SALE

The home, once a Pasadena Showcase House of Design, was built in the 1920s to resemble a Spanish castle and includes a speakeasy bar hidden behind the wood panels in a study. The party benefits Ronald McDonald House and Five Acres, and features drinks and food, a silent auction, wine toss, and dancing on the expansive, multi-level grounds of the estate.

MONEY IN POLITICS CRITIQUED AT DEMOCRATIC CLUB

ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION PLANNED

This event recognizes those making donations of trees, and donors meeting the deadline will be presented with a certificate. Arbor Day remarks will be made by Stephanie Landregan, the director for the Landscape Architecture Program and the Horticulture and Gardening Program at UCLA Extension.

THE HISTORY OF EARLY LOS ANGELES
The Second Saturday program of Bolton Hall Museum is on March 10 at 1 p.m. and traces the history of Los Angeles from its founding as a pueblo of 44 people in 1781 through California’s statehood in 1850 and explores factors allowing the small pueblo to become the city of over 4 million that it is today.
Program presenters Bruce Phillips, EdD, and Katy Phillips, MS, are both native Californians and retired educators. They are members of the Los Angelitas del Pueblo and lead tours of the historic El Pueblo de Los Angeles. Bruce is the immediate past president of Los Angelitas and Katy served on the board recently as director of education.

PARISIAN ROMANCES ON MUSIQUES ROSTER
The next presentation of Salon de Musiques is on March 11 and is titled “Parisian Romances.” It is an exquisite program for strings and piano that will celebrate three French masters: Saint-Saens, Franck and Chausson.

All monies collected from the sale of these books support the Sunland-Tujunga Branch Library in purchasing new books, DVDs and equipment. BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP AT Y
The Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA, in partnership with the La Leche League, is hosting a monthly lactation and infant development support group to help support new mothers. This monthly group meets on the third Friday of each month from noon-1 p.m. This group is free and open to the community and will answer all breastfeeding-related questions that new mothers may have.
The Y is also offering a Mindful Parenting Course designed to help parents connect to their children and raise them to thrive. This course is adapted from the work of Dan Siegal, M.D and will focus on reducing daily stress while connecting with your child. The classes meet weekly on Tuesdays.
