The original Renaissance Faire returns to Irwindale at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area Saturdays and Sundays now through May 19 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. at 15501 E. Arrow Highway in Irwindale. Service animals welcome but no pets allowed. Costume weapons must be sheathed and peace-tied.

CCLCF HOSTS UPCOMING FREE EVENTS
On Saturday, May 4 from 1-6 p.m. CCLCF is hosting its first ever cornhole tournament and chili cook-off. Seeking sponsors for the event. Sponsors receive custom cornhole board sets and a score tower with their logo. To participate, entry costs are $60 for two people for the cornhole tournament, which includes chili cook-off tasting tickets and prizes for the winning team. The cost to enter the chili cook-off is $20 per entry with prizes for first, second and third place. Wanted: Chili cook-off entries!

FRITZ COLEMAN RETURNS TO SOLO COMEDY
Legendary comic Fritz Coleman is performing a series of shows at the El Portal Theatre from his latest solo comedy show “Unassisted Living,” now airing on Tubi.

CVHS HOLDING 50th REUNION
The 50-year Crescenta Valley High School class reunion will be celebrated on May 4 with an evening of elegance and enjoyment at the Marriott in Old Town Pasadena. In addition, there is a Friday night get-together, May 3, at Gus & Andy’s in Montrose (thanks to Mark Miller).

DANCING AS EXERCISE
Dancing As Exercise is a free ongoing weekly event sponsored by the Los Angeles County Park program for seniors (50 plus) as a form of staying healthy.

SIERRA CLUB ‘VISIT’ GREENLAND AND NEWFOUNDLAND
The next program of the Crescenta Valley Group of the Sierra Club visits the shores of Greenland and Newfoundland. The program is on May 7 at 7 p.m. This will be a hybrid presentation – both in-person at the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta, and also on Zoom for virtually attendees who cannot make it to the library.
Bruce Hale will give a presentation of his Adventure Canada cruise from Kangerelussauaq, Greenland to St. John’s, Newfoundland. The cruise started above the Arctic Circle and gradually sailed south along the rugged coasts, making stops with zodiac landings in remote regions replete with mountains and glaciers and tundra and fjords and more.

Those who know the popular music of the 1960s know the songs of The Association. With multiple, now-classic recordings – “Along Comes Mary,” “Cherish,” “Windy,” “Never My Love” – every song brings back fond memories.
Bolton Hall Museum’s 2nd Saturday Program in May features Russ Giguere, a founding member of The Association and lead singer on “Windy.” He will tell the audience about the band’s career and its local connections to Glendale, Pasadena and La Cañada. His book “Along Comes The Association: Beyond Folk Rock and Three-Piece Suits” is available for purchase after the program.
This event is on Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It will be held at Bolton Hall Museum, Home of Little Landers Historical Society, 10110 Commerce Ave. in Tujunga.

Guide Dogs of America/Tender Loving Canines (GDA/TLC) presents the 2024 open house titled “Happy Tails. Happy Trails.” It is taking place at the GDA/TLC campus in Sylmar on June 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The 2024 open house will provide lots of fun activities for the whole family and will feature a puppy-kissing booth, tours of the GDA/TLC seven-acre campus and a silent auction with gift baskets. GIFF ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS
The Glendale International Film Festival is now accepting film and screenplay submissions for its 10th anniversary edition. GIFF 2024 is produced and presented by non-profit Glendale Arts and will be held from Sept. 26-Oct. 1.
Filmmakers and screenwriters from all over the world are invited to submit their projects via FilmFreeway at https://filmfreeway.com/GlendaleInternationalFilmFestival. Films, student films, and screenplays will be accepted until the final submissions deadline on July 12. Selected films will be screened during the festival at the Glendale location of the Laemmle Theatres.
This year, GIFF has expanded to 22 submission categories.

ACTIVITIES AT SUNLAND SENIOR CENTER
The Sunland Senior Center offers a selection of classes and activities daily. Whether seniors are looking to exercise or dance or are interested in art, theater, or knitting, the Center has something for everyone. Sunland also hosts bingo on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and a movie matinee on the big screen at 1 p.m. on Thursdays; on Mondays and Fridays there is country line dancing from noon-1:30 p.m. The Sunland Senior Center runs programming from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. with a donations-based lunch served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
