The Tournament of Roses Parade was held this week and for most of last week the parade floats were being decorated with flowers, seeds and plants. Guests came from across the country and around the world to view the beautiful floats as they were being built. For those who went to the Rosemont Pavilion across the street from the Rose Bowl there was an added bit of Pasadena fun in the form of Sip & Savor, a high-end food, wine and beer festival.

Before heading out to Sip & Savor, guests had the chance to view the floats as they received finishing touches. Included was Universal Pictures & Dreamworks Animation’s “How to Train Your Dragon – The Hidden World,” which was presented the Showmanship award for most outstanding display of showmanship and entertainment.

Guests had a chance to see some of the floats being decorated – including the 24 Hour Fitness float, the How to Train Your Dragon float and the Chipotle float atop which, just days later, Portugal. The Man would be performing. After exiting the Pavilion, guests flowed out into Sip & Savor, a huge festival of the best food and drink in California. From the Firestone Walker Brewery sports bar hailing from Paso Robles to the Lavender & Honey Coffee Shop out of good old Pasadena, there was a nice selection of everything the Golden State has to offer. Foods ranged from classic fare at Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ to unique new flavors like elote (corn) flavored cotton candy dusted in Hot Cheetos and everywhere in between. There was something for everyone’s taste at Sip & Savor, sure to be a future New Year’s tradition.

The Sip & Savor lounge was decked out with roses.
