Sergey Prokofieff and friends will be making an evening trip through your neck of the woods in Glendale this Sunday. The Glendale Philharmonic GPO will be celebrating the beginning of its 2012 season in a concert featuring Prokofieff’s masterpiece for children of all ages, Peter and the Wolf.
Leading the orchestra will be conductor Mikhail Avetisyan. Joining him will be the madcap, zany narration of local resident and comedian Emo Phillips.
This concert celebrates the second anniversary of the GPO and in that spirit, will be offering birthday cakes and snacks to all those in attendance – all provided by Billy’s Deli.
Also on the program will be a clutch of holiday songs and works by Leroy Anderson and Franz Josef Haydn with Ruslan Biryukov leading the way with his electric musicianship on the cello.
