On Sunday, Feb. 10 from
2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the La Cañada Presbyterian Church Ovations series will present violinist Jacqueline Suzuki and pianist Brendan White in a program of works by Faure, Beethoven, Messiaen, Liszt and Debussy at the church sanctuary.

Free admission, but there is a suggested $15 donation.

The program includes Violin Sonata No.10 in G Major, Op. 96 (1812) by Ludwig van Beethoven (German, 1770-1827), Berceuse for violin and piano, Op.16 (1879) by Gabriel Fauré (French, 1845-1924), Fantaisie for violin and piano (1933) by Olivier Messiaen (French, 1908-1992), Bénédiction de Dieu dans la solitude (from Harmonies poétiques et religieuses) for solo piano by Franz Liszt (Hungarian-Austrian, 1811-1886), Violin Sonata in G minor, L148 (1917) by Claude Debussy (French, 1862-1918) and Après un rêve, Op.7, No.1 (arranged for violin and piano by Wolfgang Birtel) by Gabriel Fauré (French, 1845-1924).

Jacqueline Suzuki, violin, is a longtime member of the Long Beach and Santa Barbara Symphonies. A native of San Francisco, she began her earliest chamber music studies on scholarship at the San Francisco Conservatory. She has performance degrees from the Mannes College of Music (BM), where she studied with William Kroll, and the California Institute of the Arts (MFA).

As a Los Angeles freelancer, she has performed with many ensembles and in many genres, from rock, jazz, Latin and Arabic to playing in the pit for the Bolshoi Ballet and onstage with the Three Tenors.

Pianist Brendan White has appeared as soloist with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, Musica Nova (Eastman School of Music) and the Delta Symphony Orchestra. White’s collaborations in Southern California have included the Mühlfeld Trio, which won the prestigious Beverly Hills Auditions, the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, the Speakeasy Society, and Eighteen Squared. He is also a founding member of the Sunset ChamberFest in Los Angeles: www.sunsetchamberfest.com.

White was born and raised in Tennessee before attending Eastman to study with Thomas Schumacher, and then the University of Southern California, with Kevin Fitz-Gerald, where he was awarded Outstanding Master’s Graduate of the Thornton School of Music. As a devoted performer of new music, he has worked with notable composers and conductors including Thomas Adès, Donald Crockett, Alan Pierson, Steven Stucky and Jeffrey Milarsky.
