Fresno State New Music Ensemble Highlighted in Armenian Genocide Commemoration

The Brand Library, in conjunction with the “life100” exhibition held at its art galleries, will program a concert commemorating the centennial of the beginning of the Armenian Genocide on Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m. The concert is third in its annual series.

The Fresno State New Music Ensemble – a student-run chamber group based at Cal State Fresno – will perform music by some of the leading lights of contemporary Armenian music and its diaspora, including Tigran Mansurian, Artur Avenasov, Charles Amirkhamian and Steven Aprahamian. Also on the program is a work by composer and percussionist Joseph Bohigiam honoring the victims of the Armenian Genocide, which was first premiered by the ensemble on March 9.

The concert is sponsored by the Armenian General Benevolent Union, its Pasadena chapter, and the Brand Associates.

Admission is free and a reception will be held after the concert. Parking is free.
