Its Easter time again, and that means candy, chicks, colored eggs, and, of course, Bunnies. Russel Brand lends his voice to E.B., the next in a long line of proud Easter Bunnies who make the holiday happen every year, in backyards all over the world. Except China. Something about a talking bunny just creeps them out.

E.B. is the son of the Easter Bunny and is set to take over for his father this year. But all E.B. wants to do is be a famous drummer. His father wants him to take over the family business – he doesn’t see a talking bunny drumming as an acceptable career choice.

Meanwhile, Fred O’Hare (James Marsden) is a human who just can’t get his act together. He is in his mid-20s and is still living at home, much to the duress of his parents. Especially his father. He has never really amounted to much of anything, and his father makes that point known to everyone, every night at dinner. Every job interview Fred has, he either blows it or he just doesn’t want it – “it doesn’t quite fit.” He is as lost in the world as E.B. is.

When E.B. runs away from Easter Island and arrives in Hollywood with a knapsack and a pocket full of dreams, ready to be a famous drummer, he encounters a few problems. First of all, it is hard to be a talking rabbit in Hollywood on your own. As if that weren’t enough, he has no place to stay, no food, and no idea where to start on his path to stardom. That is until he is hit by a car. Fred’s car.

E.B. is OK, but he milks Fred’s conscience for all its worth. He stays with Fred, causing trouble while he learns the way of the real world. But the Pink Berets, the Easter Bunny’s royal guard, are hot on his trail. They want to take him back to Easter Island to force him into the life he is expected to live.  E.B. and Fred are two lost kids, cut from the same cloth, and unlikely friends in this Easter family movie.

James Marsden is always great, no matter what role he takes on. Now he is playing opposite the world’s cutest digital bunny and he still holds his own.  This is a super sweet movie, great for kids and kids of every age. If you are looking for some Easter themed fun that doesn’t involve church or vinegar and color stained hands, “Hop” is the perfect movie for you.

Rated PG, I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars.
