Disneyland’s 60th (diamond) anniversary celebration kicks off next Friday, May 22 with a 24-hour party to launch the start of the summer season.
Rather than adding all new rides, Disneyland has elected to update the existing rides and give them awesome new effects. The Peter Pan ride will recieve that treatment, (pictured below right under construction) as will the Matterhorn Bobsleds and the Haunted Mansion.
There will be some all new features at the park, though, like the new Smokejumpers Grill (top right), which will be the main restaurant of the rethemed land, Grizzly Peak Airfield at Disney California Adventure. There will also be a new World of Color show, new fireworks at Disneyland and a new nightime electrical parade.
And, of course, being the 60th anniversary, there will be diamonds everywhere in the decorations. The castle is already decked out for the diamond anniversary (above left).
The fun begins May 22.
